This job contributes to REI’s success by delivering tactical leadership of REI marketing’s Creative Production teams, driving the connection between creative concept to flawless execution. Ensures strategies are executed according to concept direction and project timelines. Responsible for evaluating the workload and flexing resource needs (internal and external) to accommodate the workload. 
Provides leadership alignment and accountable for overall team results.

You’ll get to:

• Communicate brand strategy and REI corporate direction to support staff
•  Manage production functions and freelance staff
•  Inspire production team to meet or exceed REI creative standards of innovation and design
•  Proactively manage scope and creative direction of design projects based on campaign concepts and/or project plans
•  Provide photographic art direction as needed
•  Provide PreMedia color direction as needed
•  Provide training and development opportunities for staff to reach their full potential
•  Develop annual production and freelance budget needs based on annual Marketing strategies
•  Promote positive process and work relationships within department and cross-divisionally to produce high quality marketing and brand materials to enhance the customer experience 
•  Increase effectiveness and efficiency of partner marketing programs through development and implementation of processes, standards, roles and tools
•  Look for various solutions to accommodate seasonal workload shifts. Leveraging internal full-time and freelance resources as well external solutions as needed

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years’ experience in design and editorial direction
  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have a refined ability to collaborate across all divisional partners, and to broker compromise and consensus without sacrificing the quality of the solution
  • Recognizing opportunities for process improvement and demonstrated ability to implement new methods
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team through change and effectively communicate organizational vision 
  • Demonstrated understanding of corporate brand management as it relates to all creative marketing materials
  • Knowledge of best practices in creative execution and process management
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of the REI Brand and the outdoor specialty retail business

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
