You will get to work on a variety of projects with varying levels of complexity including:  new site enhancements, application development, new technologies, coding for accessibility, performance optimization, and incident response.  You'll collaborate in a dynamic environment with REI’s Interaction Designers, Information Architects, and various Software Engineers to create interactive features that deliver exceptional customer experiences.  You will have the flexibility to grow your skills and explore new technical challenges on the journey towards making REI’s digital experience world class.

Bring your passion and expertise

2+ years’ experience in hand coding, proofing and troubleshooting standards-compliant HTML, CSS and JavaScript
2+ years’ experience with JavaScript libraries (currently we use jQuery, Riot and Vue, to name a few)
Experience using CSS preprocessors and an ability to discuss their strengths and weaknesses (we use Less)
Cross-browser and cross-platform design and testing experience
Experience with AJAX techniques, as well JSON and XML to consume back end experience for complex web apps
Experience integrating tracking and other analytics tags
Experience working on large websites, with many interconnected systems
Ability to participate in on-call 24x7 incident response (rotation about 1 week per 10)
Four-year degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred
1+ years’ experience using agile development methodologies preferred
Experience working in an e-commerce retail environment preferred
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
Contribute to a strong, mutually supportive work spirit and culture where people can do their best

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
