As part of our Co-op Brands Apparel Team, the Apparel Product Developer works collaboratively with their key partners in the development of their styles and categories.  As a Developer, you must have knowledge in the total product development process, including garment costing, construction, fit evaluation, basic patternmaking, and a solid understanding of the development process from concept to commercialization/production.

In this role you will also be tasked with managing the end-to-end development of seasonal styles, from Product Brief through Production Ready.  You will be working with various product creation partners (Product Design, Product Strategy, Pattern Engineers, Product Testing and Materials), to drive the Development & Commercialization Process and ensure products meet or exceed our product performance and functionality standards. This role is responsible to maintain communication with our Vendor Partners and Asia Production Team.

Your Planning & Navigating Requirements 

  • Own seasonal product category which could include but not limited to; Outerwear, Baselayer, Fitness, Sportswear and Children’s product.
  • Ability to drive forward and manage multiple projects from brief stage through design, development, and start of production
  • Proactively organize & manage daily workflow that adheres to seasonal calendar milestones & development timelines. Ensures their manager is involved as needed.
  • Create and manage technical packages to assure documentation is current and accurate.
  • Measure and review proto samples based on submitted tech pack.
  • Come prepared to fittings with proactive solutions to achieve product expectations on aesthetic, fit and function of styles. 
  • Collaborate with Product Strategy, Design, Materials, and Asia costing teams to ensure product meets objectives.  This includes suggesting solutions to achieve costing targets.
  • Review, document and communicate changes, test results and requirements of samples to our Vendor Partners.
  • Participate in seasonal virtual Vendor meetings, to work with manufacturers and suppliers on current and future development projects.  Minimal travel may be required.
  • Ability to communicate and implement process improvement plans at both the factory level & internal creation team level.
Bring your passion and expertise
  • 5+ years’ experience in the product development of apparel including product specification, garment fitting, technical illustration, pattern & grading
  • Experienced knowledge of product development and manufacturing experience
  • Current computer hardware and software proficiency - MS Office suite; Outlook, Word, Excel, ect.
  • In depth experience taking consumer goods to market; from concept to manufacturing, including managing projects against a timeline
  • Skilled at specification documentation, technical illustration - Adobe Illustrator
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills related to product physical design, construction and production
  • Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our strategic partners, other departments and the product in general – always looking out for what is best for our end consumer
  • Willingness to go above and beyond by diving into the details, improving products and processes and helping out whenever necessary
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
  • Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals.
  • Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change. Through mentoring and proven on time development.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed. (Tradeshows, Market Research, Onsite Development.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Development, or like fields is preferred
  • Experience with 3D software and development process
  • Experience with PLM/ PDM systems
  • A passion for the outdoors, creating products and living our values 
  • 3+ years working with and traveling to foreign manufactures. Time in Asia preferred

$55,000 to $110,000 per year
ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
