The Divisional Vice President, Merchandising Business Process and Integration contributes to REI’s success by providing leadership and strategic direction to the Merchandise Business Process, Change and Training and Merchandise Operations teams.  This position will partner with the Merchandising DVP’s in Planning and Product as well as the DVP of Technology to lead the vision and strategy for merchandising business process design/ improvement, system implementation new initiatives, analytics, training, business readiness and change management.  Also, this role directs the merchandising operations and support, and merchandising system administration. This role collaborates with IT, supply chain, DC, retail, eCommerce, Marketing, REI Private Brands to understand cross divisional business needs are being met and ensure business processes are optimized.  Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

Essential Leadership Behaviors

  • As a member of the Leadership Forum, develops a deep understanding of, effectively communicates and broadly supports execution of company strategies and priorities.
  • Leads the development of product vision, strategy and roadmaps for merchandising process and technology transformation investments in service of enterprise strategic priorities, goals and objectives.
  • Drives teams to solve for critical customer problems with an MVP-approach in coordination with engineering and design teams.

  • Partners with IT, Supply Chain, Co-op Brands, Digital, Business Intelligence, Retail, Customer Insights and other divisions/teams to enable customer outcomes that deliver business results.
  • Leads divisional strategic planning and annual budgeting processes.
  • Sponsors quarterly planning processes, ensuring the prioritization of technology solutions that solve customer problems and support co-op effectiveness and profitability.
  • Establishes highly effective change management and training programs and platforms to drive change adoption and increase satisfaction and efficiency of end user teams.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience with large multi-channel retailers in merchandising, supply chain, or information technology
  • Significant experience leading and developing product vision, strategy, and roadmaps
  • Expert knowledge of retail, merchandising and end-to-end processes in a multi-channel retail environment
  • Expert working knowledge of merchandising technology (product, planning, inventory management)
  • Experience leading and developing vision, strategy and roadmaps for merchandising process and system design, implementation, training and business readiness
  • Proven ability to gain buy-in and execute change through your team and cross-divisional partners
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge of multi-disciplinary business principles in driving positive outcomes on cross functional activities and projects
  • Merchandising system implementation knowledge or leadership experience with large technology projects involving SAP, Oracle, or other ERP system
  • Understanding of change management and adult learning/training practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, technology, or related field. Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
