  • Performs routine general ledger account analysis and makes adjusting entries
  • Researches and posts account corrections in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal account definitions
  • Initiates, develops, and implements process improvements
  • Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission
  • Reviews, balances, and posts financial data from multiple systems to the general ledger
  • Reconciles less complex balance sheet accounts and works to resolve discrepant items in a timely manner
  • Resolves cash posting issues directly with stores, banks, or cash management
  • Processes business license forms with payment and in accordance with local licensing requirements
  • Matches and clears transactions in open-item managed accounts
  • Prepares weekly deposits for cash and checks received at REI headquarters
  • Processes customer check requests originating at the retail stores
  • Reviews, balances, and processes interfaces from external sources to the general ledger
  • Serves as backup support to other team members
  • Maintains awareness of all activities and issues that could impact daily operations and service levels
  • Recommends and helps develop and implement workflow improvements
  • Identifies issues and brings inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management

Bring your passion and expertise

  • Minimum 2+ years accounting experience or Associate Accounting degree
  • Solid understanding of multiple financial systems
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Basic understanding of how to apply GAAP to general ledger accounting
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills in the absence of complete information
  • Utilize business math calculations in everyday tasks
  • Maintain confidentiality around sensitive employee and company information
  • Actively participate and collaborate with colleagues and cross-divisional partners for the achievement of business goals
  • Use business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the resolution of problems and the pursuit of business opportunities
  • Consolidate information from various sources to reach sound decisions
  • Consider the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
