This role is responsible for building an aligned enterprise-wide partnerships strategy that enables REI to leverage the co-brand credit card, gift card, vendor and brand partnerships as core elements to drive customer-centric programming and value propositions. Using expertise and understanding of current and future customer behaviors, this role will create business strategy, oversee program management, relationship management, business development and health of revenue-generating partnerships. 
Highly cross-functional, collaborative and accountable to influence stakeholders to leverage and support the partnerships strategies, including: Marketing Integration, Marketing Planning and Channels, Merchandising, Creative, Digital, Finance, Legal, Brand Stewardship and Impact and IT teams. 

All leaders at REI model and act in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

  • Leads REI relationship with REI MasterCard($80M), REI Gift Card ($100M) and Vendor Collaboration ($2M) programs
  • Leads strategy development and program execution for gift cards to drive sales and promotional events
  • Leads strategy development and annual planning for Vendor Collaboration partnerships specific to both endemic and non-endemic partnerships, driving enhanced customer experiences and acquisition opportunities
  • Leads strategy development and program execution for the REI Co-Brand credit card to increase member penetration and profitability
  • Owns relationship with sr. leadership in merchandising and marketing; co-developing partnership profiles and go-to-market objectives within each program
  • Creates a center of excellence, developing a team aligned through a common strategy and skillset to support the enterprise in evaluating partnership potential
  • Sourcing new partnerships to acquire new customers and increase brand awareness and engagement
  • Develops partnership consulting model to create capacity and build competence across the co-op 
  • Building capacity and best practices to serve as a resource across the co-op
  • Drives partnership activations from inception to execution, holding internal and external stakeholders accountable for commitments, milestones, and deliverables to realize outcomes and results
  • Gives direction to and manages multiple agency and vendor relationships to achieve business goals
  • Owns the P&L for the vendor collaboration, REI gift card and co-branded credit card lines of business
  • Responsible for the developing, monitoring and attaining the annual expense budget and goals
  • Maintains all legal standards as applicable to marketing strategies particularly as they relate to privacy policy and customer data
  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
  • Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI key messages
  • Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results
  • Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
  • Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions
  • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews
  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results
  • Establishes and maintains visibility within the department
  • Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action

Bring your passion and expertise

  • 7+ years experience in strategic partnership leadership roles with P&L responsibilities
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience with a strong interest in developing his/her team
  • Expert knowledge of business partnership function and competencies including: strategic planning, program management and measurement, brand communication, customer insights, direct marketing, membership loyalty, customer retention, gift card and credit card programs
  • 3-5 years experience with credit card, gift card, vendor management programs, affiliate marketing, media sales
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining partner relationships from the inception through execution
  • Strong analytical skills with experience developing financial plans, expense budgets and business cases
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field
  • Innovative and strategic thinking related to events, partnerships and multicultural relationships
  • Experience giving direction to and managing agency relationship
  • Ability to clearly articulate a compelling vision and strategy
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals
  • Understanding of the REI brand and the outdoor specialty retail business
  • Builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
