REI is looking for a QA Analyst Intern to contribute to REI’s success by working as part of a cross-functional team and actively participate in day-to-day functions of the Quality Assurance department. Throughout the course of your internship experience, you will own and drive a challenging and relevant project to solve real-time business challenges. Under the supervision of your Manager, and as a key member of the Quality Assurance department, you will gain insights into the key functions of your team as it relates to REI’s broader strategy and vision. 

This job contributes to REI’s success by supporting the planning, design and execution of system testing on simple applications. Works collaboratively within the IT department and business units to execute and validate test cases based upon system requirements. Under general supervision, carries out procedures to ensure that all information systems, products and services meet minimum organization standards. Thoroughly tests software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects. Reports progress on problem resolution to management. Makes recommendations on how to improve quality and reliability by documenting test results and corrective actions; analyzing current policies and procedures and suggesting revisions.

Duration:

  • 10- 12 weeks (mid June - September)

Job functions include:

  • Contributes to overall testing strategy
  • Understands and contributes to processes for continuous integration, Test Management and Reporting for Automated Suites with oversight of experienced testers.
  • Identify risks, opportunities and work items for process and test automation
  • Utilizes development skills to create and run test automation systems written in Java
  • Self-directed, as demonstrated by setting effective goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work
  • Develop test plans, test cases, test scripts and test reports on single projects
  • Perform testing on various software and reporting systems
  • Validate that user expectations are achieved during the testing process
  • Review user requirements documents to ensure that requirements are testable
  • Document and monitor defects through the resolution process

Qualifications and expectations:

  • Currently enrolled in, or received at minimum a Bachelor's Degree (or recently graduated within the last 6 months) in a STEM related field such as IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering 
  • Interface with development team to ensure sufficient test coverage upstream in JUnit and other unit test tools in support of TDD best practices
  • Develops code, techniques, and processes to test middleware, including: ETL, ESB, Web Services, SOAP, and XML
  • Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals
  • Understands, able to modify test frameworks and API
  • Responsible for the development of source code and execution of automated test cases and QA processes that ensure quality throughout our release schedule

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
