This job contributes to REI’s success by leading, developing and supporting teams distributed across the network in forecasting and labor planning to meet customer expectations and maximize DC network throughput. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing forecasting and staffing models for the DC network, to maximize throughput, drive efficiency, and service customers and cross-divisional partners. This job models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.


  • Identifies and communicates production control strategies and vision for supply chain in partnership with DC Operations stakeholders
  • Create and establish a production control program to fully optimize the production flow across the network. Manages and communicates information about the program, including changes in strategy, practices, and procedures
  • Supports hiring, training, and development of a high performing team to deliver a Production Planning discipline for the Supply Chain
  • Ensures goals and success metrics are clearly defined and roles and responsibilities across the production planning teams are clear
  • Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results
  • Provides strategic perspective to problem solving and issue resolution across multiple teams and businesses
  • Creates measurable business results by proactively identifying waste. Leverages applicable methods and tools to design and implement solutions to root causes
  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results
  • Establishes and maintains visibility within the department
  • Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action with team and cross-divisional partners to address gaps
  • Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI key messages
  • Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
  • Provides strategic perspective to problem solving and issue resolution across multiple teams and businesses
  • Creates measurable business results by proactively identifying waste. Leverages applicable methods and tools to design and implement solutions to root causes
  • Develop inbound receipt, direct to consumer outbound and retail replenishment forecasts at the daily, weekly and 12-month time horizons
  • Develop labor plans to meet daily, weekly and 12-month forecasts
  • Develop staffing models for indirect warehouse functions to achieve end-to-end throughput
  • Proactively identify gaps in staffing against volume forecasts
  • Develop, track and report daily metrics and KPIs on performance to plans to identify and solve problems, and make improvements
  • Ensure production teams utilize standardized work and consistent work practices across DC network
  • Partner with Continuous Improvement team and Process Analyst to drive improvements within departments throughput by analyzing and reviewing product flow, and evaluating and proposing options using Lean methodology
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-divisional partners, DC operations teams, and direct reports
  • Works closely with DC Operations to develop and communicate staffing plans and models to meet demand forecast throughput, gaps and after-action results
  • Foster and develop a strong team of DC production control specialist through an indirect reporting structure

Bring your passion and expertise

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing a diverse team of analysts
  • 3+ years of experience in production planning
  • 2+ years working with WM Warehouse Management Systems, Labor Management Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning systems for production planning
  • 3+ years of experience managing distribution center operations
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent Analytical skills
  • Intermediate skills and experience with Visual Basic Script and/or SQL, SAP, SharePoint Certification in LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process improvement method
  • Proven change management leadership

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
