Based in Atlanta, this job contributes to REI’s success by implementing local earned & paid marketing campaigns within their specific market as directed by the Manager.  This role identifies and develops new program opportunities and ensures consistency of execution of the market-level earned & paid marketing plan, which supports REI’s business goals and brand. The Local Earned & Paid Marketing Specialist working individually or within the market teams to execute local marketing campaigns that result in increased brand awareness and engagement, customer lifetime value, new customer acquisition, member retention, store/digital traffic, all while connecting Co-op wide initiatives at a regional and market level.  This role leads REI’s local social media in partnership with national marketing direction. Some additional responsibilities include (as needed): cost estimations, fiscal management and forecasting, marketing and grand opening support, media partnership development and management, event marketing, social media, public relations, program assessment and reporting, program coordination, earned media & marketing support for local public affairs efforts.  

Planning & Navigating

  • Assists Manager in development of local marketing & earned media plan in alignment with national plan
  • Oversees monthly, quarterly and annual local marketing calendar as directed by the Manager
  • Conducts financial estimates and monthly budget forecasting for paid media
  • Ensures Outdoor instructors, Local Marketing Managers, and Retail Store teams have marketing campaign details in a timely manner for effective execution for all programs
  • Develops local media partnerships (i.e. new outlets, radio; social media)
  • Implements public relations communications to local media outlets
  • Leads and coordinates Local Social Media plans
  • Markets national vendor program plans as directed by AHQ
  • Collects feedback and evaluates ROI on programs to improve future plans
  • Build positive and beneficial relationships with Store Managers and Retail Directors to ensure buy-in and support of Local Marketing Programs
  • Develops and manages relationships with local organizations in support of the Outdoor Programs direction plan.
  • Visits market stores on a regular basis to support relationship building and program execution

Bring your passion and expertise

  • 3+ years of experience with B.A. in Business or Marketing required, with a focus on regional marketing programs, earned media, social media marketing, community engagement programs (digital media with events & partnerships) preferred
  • Experience in managing productive and mutually beneficial relationships with media organizations and social media channels (Facebook & Instagram)
  • 2+ years of experience in business-focused social media program execution
  • 3+ years of experience in managing budgets
  • Ability and strength influencing, leading and collaborating with peers and remote groups to produce desired results
  • Passion for preserving and recreating in the outdoors
  • Strong identification with REI’s customer service philosophy; ability to effectively resolve difficult customer issues
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
  • Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI.

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
