The mission of the Employee Events & Recognition team is to inspire, engage and inform the co-op’s leaders and employees through meaningful programs and experiences that are integral to co-op employee culture and community. In your role as Program Manager, you will be responsible for bringing content to life during a cadence of annual events for a variety of employee audiences. You will organize and run monthly forums with the co-op’s leaders where you will work collaboratively to bring the content to fruition. You will also organize and run quarterly all-employee touchpoints as you help to move the entire employee base along in the co-op’s strategic vision and transformation. Your work will be highly visible and impactful and will involve consistent senior leader interaction.  

To be successful in this role, you will have exceptional project management skills as you envision and activate our event content program, operating with high attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and excellent organizational skills. You must have a background in event content design with top-notch writing skills. You will have experience concepting and developing event sessions, including key objectives and outcomes, messaging, content decks and take-aways. You will be savvy with presenter/speaker coaching, including a proven ability to coach executives for speaking opportunities – all of this requires excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. You must be comfortable managing speakers and liaising with production partners during virtual and in-person events, which requires the ability to remain calm under pressure and quick problem-solving skills. You will also be able to manage online content and bring a clear perspective on the best ways to provide curated content to a variety of employee audiences. The ideal candidate must be tech-savvy, curious, willing to vet and test new platforms, have an interest in and aptitude for innovation and think broadly about engagement across a dispersed workforce with in-person, virtual and hybrid employee events. Finally, this candidate must be fluent in Microsoft Office and Teams, with an expert level of Powerpoint aptitude.  

Your work bringing event content to life will deepen employee engagement and advance co-op culture across a dispersed headquarters team and field employees. You will be an integral part of a cohesive team and your ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a frequently changing and fast-paced environment will be fundamental to your success. This position contributes to REI’s success by contributing to the co-op’s impact work, including climate, advocacy and racial equity, diversity and inclusion through employee experiences. You will approach project obstacles with an entrepreneurial mindset and an unwavering ‘can-do’ attitude that rallies teams to move work forward. 

This role will require flexibility in scheduling and periodic business travel throughout the year. 

Your Planning & Navigating Requirements 

  • Drives 360-degree program strategy for event content across internal partners and resources, vendors, employees and decision makers for critical project timelines 
  • Build comprehensive and creative program overview for stakeholder alignment and execution 
  • Partner with Events team members who are focused on event design and logistics to collaborate on content development within event design 
  • Build compelling presentations with superior organization, clarity and attention to detail 
  • Collect content from diverse sources and successfully consolidate all inputs to ensure a well-rounded and impactful final product 
  • Navigate among a variety of audiences, providing clear communication and track deliverables to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Participate as both a leader and a representation of both hands-on effort as well as strategic oversight 
  • Deliver clear communication plans and templates across workstreams and various audience groups 
  • Collaborate cross-divisionally with Strategy, Executive Admins, Senior Leaders, Co-op Communications and other divisions to lead and advance event-related content 

Bring your passion and expertise

  • 3+ years working in event planning with a focus on content strategy and creation 
  • 3+ years working with Microsoft Office and Teams, with a deep knowledge of Powerpoint 
  • Proven ability to manage the content process from to start to finish, working directly with content owners to meet deadlines and deliver compelling all-REI and leader moments 
  • Ability to coordinate and run all stakeholder and prep meetings, including consistent engagement with the Senior Leadership Team 
  • Experience assisting with event logistics related to sessions 
  • Capable of delivering effective speaker/presenter coaching,  including at the executive level 
  • Ability to identify employee needs and draft strategies and plans that deliver on those needs, taking a human-centered approach to event and content delivery 
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals. 
  • Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions to support the direction taken by others at REI 
  • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities 
  • Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions.

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
