REI is looking for a talented content marketer with a passion for SEO. In this role, you’ll contribute to the co-op’s success by managing the content strategy and business objectives of REI’s online learning content. As Program Manager, Expertise Content SEO, and reporting to the Senior Program Manager, Content SEO, the role is accountable for planning and promoting content based on search volume, business priority and customer demand.

You’ll be responsible for the planning and strategy of Expert Advice—REI’s landmark content marketing program with more than two decades of history to build on. We’re looking for someone passionate about how-to content who can think big picture about how Expert Advice can better serve our members. Your strategy will introduce new visitors to REI.com via helpful, high-quality content centered on outdoor education and gear.

This role is about collaboration and works with a large number of stakeholders. Partner with internal and external content creators, our technical SEO team, content marketing teammates who manage the Co-op Journal and YouTube, marketing channel owners, and digital site owners. Clear communication, earning stakeholder buy in and providing direction are paramount to success. You’ll identify demand-driven content opportunities and bring them to life on message, on time and on budget.

You can leverage SEO data to develop content that will drive qualified traffic to REI. You’re up to speed on best practices in content production and optimization, including voice search and Quick Answers. You know how to balance the needs of SEO with on-brand, useful content that can help REI members and outdoor enthusiasts pursue their ambitions. You have a knack for working with creative partners and educating on SEO best practices. 

Bring your passion and expertise

  • 5+ years of experience in content marketing and SEO 
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, communications or journalism, or equivalent work experience in ecommerce        
  • Proven track record of developing educational content that is effective and useful
  • Instinct for identifying on-brand content topics that ladder up to business strategy. Knowledge of the outdoor community and culture is a plus
  • Understanding of how to develop content that is shareable and likely to earn links
  • Experience with keyword research and content ideation tools like BrightEdge, SearchMetrics, Conductor, ahrefs, SEMrush or others
  • Experience with measuring SEO success through leading indicators like rank tracking, and through business KPIs like traffic and revenue
  • Knowledge of YouTube search best practices
  • Understanding of the latest content strategy trends and technologies. Knowledge of mobile-first and responsive content development
  • Some understanding of UX and Accessibility to develop content that’s great for people and bots 
  • Ability to champion your content beyond the scope of SEO by identifying opportunities for promotion within other traffic-driving channels
  • Building rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the Co-op

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
