This job contributes to REI’s success by managing category marketing efforts across programs and channels, ensuring delivery against KPIs including demand, awareness, and engagement, among other goals.  Specifically, this role is responsible for developing annual marketing plans for assigned categories, and driving the integration for services, expertise and experiences (e.g. REI Adventure Travel, Outdoor School, Owned Events). Category assignments may include: Hike, Backpack, Camp, Climb, Trail Run, Actionsports (Cycle, Snow, Water), and Apparel.

In this role, the Program Manager will partner with cross-functional teams within marketing (channels, brand strategy and creative), as well as cross-divisional teams (enterprise strategy, retail, digital retail and merchandising) to develop an annual GTM to support category growth & overall business performance. S/he will also work closely with marketing analytics to drive business inputs and updates, reviewing and reporting performance and optimization opportunities quarterly. 

The Program Manager also drives integration for services and off-price events across their assigned activity streams within business planning windows, including clearances. The Program Manager leads execution for assigned activity streams, in partnership with the customer window planning team and other stakeholders for time-frame planning. The individual is also a key contributor to bi-weekly business review meetings and performance recapping. 

  • Develops annual go-to-market plans in support of assigned categories 
  • Leads integration of relevant channel, program, services, content, experience, and product priorities within assigned categories
  • Ensures that the customer experience is clear, delivers on business goals and reflects the REI Master Brand principles and guidelines.
  • Contributes to budget, channel and audience allocation for activity stream
  • Works closely with Brand and Enterprise strategy, in order to develop positioning documentation, ultimately informing the creative brief
  • Leads meetings and provides documentation through the category marketing development cycle to keep partners uniformly informed of progress and changes necessary to achieving business goals 
  • Leads integration of other business services, including off-price elements, within category assignments, working closely with customer window planning teams and other stakeholders for time-frame planning and priorities.
  • Collaborates with partners and Marketing Analytics to develop measurable KPIs
  • Works closely with marketing analytics to drive business inputs and updates, recapping category business performance. Key contributor to bi-weekly business review meetings and window performance recapping
  • Contributes to business performance reviews, elevates opportunities to optimize marketing plans, and leads the process to amend or update customer experience when key deliverables or direction changes
  • Leads comprehensive reviews and sync meetings for assigned categories



Bring your passion and expertise

  • 5+ years strategic planning experience and campaign execution in Advertising and/or Marketing
  • BA in Business or Marketing related degree required, post-graduate work optional
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in leading and developing integrated marketing plans
  • Proven track record developing integrated marketing plans that meet or exceed business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work in a deadline and process-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to assess important market requirements and opportunities and identify competitive opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively 
  • Experience and success in productively managing partners and relationships in developing marketing programs.

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
