This job contributes to REI’s success by leading, assessing and managing enterprise projects and business initiatives that impact REI’s Accounting and Financial operations. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Accounting, as an individual contributor. General responsibilities include: being the key contact and subject matter expert (SME) for accounting and other finance teams on projects, including performing assessments, creating business requirements, determining operational impacts, participating in system design, testing, evaluation of results, and identifying solutions to problems. This position will partner closely with Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Procurement, Tax and other cross-divisional teams and has significant interaction across the co-op. Organization, attention to detail, and communication are critical to the success of this role. This role provides leadership, guidance and expertise to cross-divisional business and technical teams regarding accounting and finance issues, including their related systems and processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in operational accounting and finance, process design and internal controls, process improvements, system implementations and will model and act in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

  • Serves as an expert resource and SME to business partners and cross-functional enterprise project teams
  • Possesses a deep understanding of operational accounting and is capable of representing the General Accounting, Fixed Assets & IT Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Cash Accounting teams in project meetings
  • Provides guidance and makes recommendations to accounting and treasury leadership
  • Leads the co-op’s ERP project for the Accounting and Treasury Departments
  • Partners with the Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager on projects to align on accounting treatment and to ensure changes in business operations are accurately reflected in REI’s financial results
  • Partners with other Accounting and Finance managers on projects that impact their areas of responsibility
  • This position will need to be able to explain accounting concepts and requirements to non-accountants in a way that they can understand
  • Possesses solid understanding of internal controls related to accounting and reporting. Works with other teams to ensure adequate controls exist for processes that impact accounting
  • Strong understanding of various finance operations and processes
  • Communicates business requirements to project teams and system development teams, ensuring solution design meets accounting requirements
  • Prepares robust documentation for projects and system implementations
  • Proactively identifies inefficient processes; initiates, develops, and implements process improvements and best practices
  • Demonstrates excellent time management skills and effectively prioritizes competing responsibilities with minimal oversight; ensures deliverables are completed timely
  • Participates in and drives ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed

Bring your passion and expertise

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years accounting/finance experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • SAP experience preferred LEAN/Six Sigma training preferred
  • Proven ability to manage multiple large projects
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple assignments while meeting set deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple financial systems, leading process improvements, and implementing innovative solutions to solve problems
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills required
  • Ability to represent the Accounting team and other Finance teams on projects by creating and articulating accounting and finance business requirements to IT and other cross-divisional business teams
  • Ability to present analysis and recommendations to senior level management in a clear & concise format
  • Possesses a strong understanding of accounting theory, accounting systems, internal controls, and related processes
  • Analytical mindset with drive for problem solving
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality surrounding sensitive employee or company information
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others to achieve business goals

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
