The Senior Manager, Product Engineering is at forefront of virtual product creation, working collaboratively with the cross functional product creation team and manufacturing partners. The goal of virtual product creation is to optimize design, development, and sell-in process to increase efficiencies and speed to market with the ultimate focus to reduce waste, creating a more sustainably viable product creation process.  As the senior manager you will be informing virtual product creation strategic initiatives and work to own and implement 3D solution with key stakeholders within the product creation process. 
The ideal candidate has a passion for producing high quality 3D prototypes that accurately represent design intent, product features and benefits; has successfully managed large scale projects, has hands on knowledge of 3D apparel tools, intermediate   understanding of the product creation process, patternmaking and garment fit. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s values and mission.

  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results

  • Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions
  • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews
  • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company, and customer results
  • Establishes and maintains visibility within the department
  • Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances, and issues, and takes appropriate action
  • Act as a strong advocate for product integrity by working closely with divisional leaders and related support services to uphold quality standards and maintain competitive advantages
  • Build and maintain a close relationship with Design, Materials Design, Materials Dev & Prod, Tech Services, and Sourcing
  • Informs and supports virtual product creation strategy for Co-op Brands, ensuring strategy creates a foundational platform to expand use of virtual product creation tools to REI enterprise 
  • Owns, establishes, and manages a detailed Coop Brands virtual product creation integration/project plan covering all areas within product creation process, working with cross functional teams and stakeholders 
  • Defines, establishes, and implements the necessary standard operating procedures (SOP), calendar and process updates, training content and tools for all aspects of virtual product creation integration in partnership with cross functional teams and stakeholders
  • Collaborates with cross functional stakeholders for successful adoption of 3D technology & processes
  • Identifies, develops, and executes on opportunities for process improvement at team level
  • Contributes to on-going requirements identification and development of systems to support the product function.
  • Manages Product Engineering staff
  • Implements organizational structure and succession plan at team level
  • Ensure organizational efficiency through effective motivation, delegation, and proper coaching/ development of the functional team 
  • Ensure that the engineering function implements the required product standards for the product category to support the division’s product strategy 
  • Ensure continuous product and process improvement with emphasis on quality product engineering and completion of products in accordance with the operating calendar 
  • Ensure all relevant development and production documents are communicated to the respective parties within the given deadlines 
  • Responsible for the virtual product creation/engineering process within product engineering performance in both HQ and field offices through to ‘buy ready ‘stage and timely handover for bulk commercialization. 
  • Monitor and continuously improves workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT-systems, data, and analysis 
  • Partner with Product Development Manager in allocating/delegating the different products/projects to the respective development teams, considering individual experience, product complexity and workload 
  • Coaches and develops the team (goal setting, assessments, training, development) and fosters productive cross-category cooperation with the other key managers/relationships 
  • Manages budgets in a timely and accurate manner

Bring your passion and expertise
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Technical Design, Fashion Design, or Patternmaking.
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of 3D Apparel rendering experience 
  • Minimum of 10+ years of Apparel Experience, preferably with knowledge of technical design and pattern making
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management principles
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous process improvement efforts
  • Demonstrated experience influencing cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficient in PLM systems
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and teams, assess a risk, and provide direction to reach solutions and implement change

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
