We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Alpine team. The Alpine Platform is a collection of tools and libraries designed to get new apps started and into production quickly. This team builds the tools and platforms that are the foundation for REI.com and other cross-channel services. Our mission is to build fast, reliable, and low-risk delivery of high-quality software to our customers and our business. Feature teams own their services, but we create the tools to help them work fast and efficiently. Our tools create, build, deploy, monitor, and maintain services throughout their entire lifecycle. We value DevOps and Continuous Delivery principles. Being a true continuous deployment shop, on your first day you might end up committing code that goes to production within minutes, deploy a new service to AWS, or write a new library that could potentially be consumed by dozens of services. You certainly won’t be bored, current challenges include: How do we transition to AWS? What tools should we use? How do we scale and support our micro-services platform in other parts of the organization? How do we take advantage of cloud native technologies such as AWS Lambda?
Building tooling the enables our engineering community to work more efficiently, and quickly deliver new features and functionality
Development of tools and capabilities that enable teams to migrate their current applications to the cloud Assisting engineering teams with day to day engineering questions
Evangelizing Alpine’s mission through consulting, teaching and guidance in REI’s engineering community
Proven experience with application provisioning, project templating, deployment, monitoring, runtime tools, and alerting
A passion for jumping in, learning new stuff, and getting your hands dirty
A passion for Continuous Delivery principles, automating software delivery & DevOps.
