We are looking for a Solution Architect to design the technical solutions for next-generation features and functionality of our internal tool, services and overall architecture. You will get to work on a variety of projects with varying levels of complexity in support of PIM, ontology, navigation, search, new technologies and architecture optimization.  

As a Solutions Architect, you will collaborate in a dynamic environment with REI’s business analysts, product owners and stakeholders, other architects, and various software engineers to guide the creation of these features and functionality that deliver exceptional customer experiences. You will work with the Enterprise/Domain Architects to develop the technology “roadmap” for the assigned business areas and to plan the transition from the current architectural framework to the target architecture of the future.

You will have the flexibility to grow your skills and explore new technical challenges on the journey towards making REI’s digital experience world class. 

In this role, you:

  • For divisional area of responsibility, are responsible for project-level solutions, ensuring the design optimally satisfies needs and expectations for all project stakeholders
  •  Lead, design, and document the solution architecture required to support project deliverables
  • Advocate and champion Enterprise Architecture and Domain Architecture concerns to the project team
  • Will be responsible for overall solution quality; security, performance, flexibility, availability, etc.
  • Actively participate in all stages of project and roadmap development: business case development, planning, schedule development, estimation, tool selection, testing, etc.
  • Act as a liaison between the business and developers
  • Are responsible for deciding technologies to use in the solution not already defined by the Domain Architecture and Enterprise Architecture teams
  • Will create architecture deliverables such as: non-functional requirements, system diagrams, data models, and traceability matrix to track and monitor the solution from requirements to design to implementation to test cases.
  • Responsible for defining the technical roadmap for assigned systems
  • Assist in building Proofs of Concept for new technologies or code designs

Bring your passion and expertise

  • iServer, Visio or another similar architecture repository platform (Draw.io, Balsamiq etc.)
  • Experience working with product data and information management systems and platforms, along with how they integrate with other systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent training and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in software architecture design, development, implementation and delivery of applications in all phases of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience of implementing large scale applications using service-oriented, micro service, and/or API based architectures at an enterprise scale
  • Experience implementing and integrating commercial solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in adopting design patterns in software solutions
  • Experience in digital Retail and eCommerce systems and tools (Product Information Management, Navigation, Search, Ontology or related areas) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with both business and systems processes and an ability to understand and explain issues from both a technical and a business perspective
  • Understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies.
  • Understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server systems
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
