This job contributes to REI’s success by driving the strategy to support activity, categories, brands, and products that come to life within REI’s Digital Retail channel. This position leads the team of Digital Merchandisers to ensure a cohesive and consistent customer experience across all product categories and identifies areas of opportunity to deliver omni-channel synergies. The Sr. Manager Digital Merchandising will lead strategic projects, foster collaboration across multiple teams, and possess an ability to drive innovation through curiosity and influence while building trust. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the digital retail landscape, possess strategic analytical acumen, and understand the impact of assortment and inventory on digital KPI’s.  This role will serve as a key partner with merchant team leadership and will accelerate transformation through digital data.  Team leadership, people management, coaching and development are an integral part of the role.  The Sr. Manager Digital Merchandising leads the efforts of seasonal planning across the product categories, with the goal of delivering a balanced plan between customer data driven behavior and merchandising strategies resulting in conversion and sales, member acquisition and retention.

In addition, this role develops and drives execution of holistic digital strategies for assigned activity/category that includes support for the enterprise marketing campaign plan, incremental online-only product/category stories, and alignment with key enterprise strategies that are designed to deliver on activity/category goals.

  • Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action.
  • Facilitates empowerment and growth of direct reports. Owns performance management and progress review. Owns coaching, development and regular feedback to team members.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills including the ability to foster teamwork and manage change.

  • Manages the effort to establish best practices in analyzing and reporting digital metrics and inventory levels from a product category perspective. Sets guidelines for the Digital Merchandising team in delivering these best practices in a consistent and actionable manner to key partners.
  • Represents Digital Merchandising in business review meetings both internally and within Merchant organization providing data, insights and project results inclusive of actions to continually optimize and deliver upon conversion goals
  • Partner with the broader Site Marketing team to lead business performance reviews, evaluating performance to plan, execution across merchandising, marketing, and testing with clear actions for developing future strategy direction.
  • Maintains close, collaborative relationships with Merchants, Marketing Operations, and other cross-functional partners
  • Partners closely with SEO establishing best practices for merchandising team resulting in improved organic traffic driving tactics for areas of responsibility
  • Drives collaboration with in-store visual merchandising team to coordinate and drive omni-channel strategies supporting Activities, Brands and key Products
  • Leads team to deliver on-site traffic driving strategies and merchandising plans for Digital Activity/Category, and Strategic Vendor partners aligned to clear objectives and key results
  • Partner with Merchandising Project Manager and key stakeholders/support groups to review team plans and strategies and prioritize Merchandising projects.
  • Utilizes customer data to lead cross-functional teams into prioritizing solutions with the goal of continuously improving our digital C-sat scores
  • Lead Digital Merchandising team in partnering with Product Management, UX, Creative and Marketing to deliver testing priorities to deliver upon digital objectives
  • Leads cross divisional process improvement efforts that result in organizational efficiencies and cost savings enabling the business to scale for growth; utilizes Great Operator principles
  • Fosters a systems thinking approach to inform future tools and processes that will empower the team
  • Collaborates closely with internal team to identify areas of opportunity and growth through utilizing existing and future tools to drive category, brand and activity goals (Algonomy, Engage, etc)
  • Facilitates empowerment and growth of direct reports. Conducts performance management and progress review. Delivers coaching, development and regular feedback to team members.
Bring your passion and expertise
  • 7+ years strategic planning experience as part of eCommerce and or Marketing team.
  • 5+ years direct supervisory experience of eCommerce team
  • 5+ years web analytics experience including a solid understanding of web metrics, testing methodology and optimization strategies.
  • Demonstrated success establishing and implementing marketing and merchandising strategies and tactics on a web site for a multi-channel retailer.
  • Demonstrated experience in balancing the creative aspects of building effective on-line customer experiences while achieving the quantitative demands of cross-channel sales.
  • Knowledge of key merchandising, marketing business principles specific to web-based merchandising and the ability to apply these principles to achieve planned goals.
  • Experience working with content management systems to update website pages.
  • BA in Business or Marketing preferred.
  • Experience in managing external vendors and partner relationships.
  • Experience in process management.
  • Excellent cross functional project management skills
  • Proven experience building and maintaining strong, collaborative, cross divisional business relationships

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, REI provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.

The pay for this role is: $95,000 to $200,000 per year

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
