This job contributes to REI’s success by leading the execution divisional projects that promote company identity, enhances the REI brand, and improves the operations for our store teams. Responsibilities include engagement in all aspects of the store design program to include ownership of assigned new and existing retail store projects, store interior design (artifacts, found, furniture and fixture application) to include localization of program by region, market and city and ensure a compelling customer experience in REI retail stores. This job is expected to keep up to date with trends and explore new retailing, design and sustainability opportunities. The Store Experience Planner II is responsible for balancing multiple projects simultaneously and may travel to various locations to verify and/or execute Retail Store Design projects. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

 

  • Designs Retail Store plans that align store flow, localization, articulation of desired assortment and overall customer journey in the retail store environment and ensures the spatial allocation meets or exceeds the proforma approved by the REI board.
  • Drives projects and individuals assigned to store design projects or programs to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Leads coordination with internal, cross-divisional and consultants for budget planning, reconciliation, ordering, tracking and reporting projects to completion of assigned projects.
  • Ensures final retail store design meets business proforma, customer journey, experience, brand and spatial productivity objectives successfully through effective project management, collaboration with internal, cross-divisional, and external partners and adhering to REI’s project management templates and processes.
  • Makes recommendations to leadership in the overall development of Retail Store Design strategies, planning, and implementation to meet overall business and retail objectives.
  • Maintains Collaborates with architectural, fixture, visual merchandising, In-Store Marketing teams, merchandising operations and retail leadership on custom needs to source, install and execute for each assigned location. · Adheres to finish standards for fixtures and aligns FF&E with overall store design standards as it relates to Store Interiors guidelines.
  • Oversees and implements CAD programs and supporting technology acting as the department expert and subject matter expert.
  • Ensures objectives of CAD and Category Management programs are successfully completed through effective task assignments, collaboration with internal, cross-divisional, and external partners and adhering to REI’s project management templates and develops aligned processes.
  • Evaluates category management program and advises recommendations to merchants, planners, visual merchandisers and fixture manager to maximize Co-op profitability through the category management blocks including evaluation of spatial productivity/ allocation by store, merchant department/ category and fixture.
  • Ensures alignment with Fixture, Architectural and Visual Merchandising standards that are in-line with systemic, environmental and ADA standards.
  • Manages retail store projects with moderate to high volumes of ambiguity & risk in assignments and budget complexity.
  • Projects focused on programed moderately complex location plans.
  • Plans for the effective development and implementation of complex projects.
  • Requires work prioritization, scheduling and coordinating outside resources to support assigned projects.
  • Conducts decision support that aligns with REI initiatives and direction from leadership. Major projects are reviewed in terms of meeting Project criteria, achieving goals, generally over an extended period of time.
  • Delivers on project objectives, and leads effective collaboration with internal, cross-, and external partners.
  • Attends cross-divisional meeting with internal and external stakeholder to ensure objectives have been clearly delivered and are being acted upon. Informs leadership of any changes to original plan.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of the content associated with the project or program
  • Responds to and/or coordinates inquiries on an agreed upon specified time frame.
  • Travel to various locations; some trips may require multiple destinations including locations outside of the U.S.
  • Completes other projects as assigned by manager.

  • 5+ years cross-divisional planning, project management experience in a retail
  • environment preferable, with the ability to maintain spreadsheets and any other
  • internal filling systems
  • 5+ years understanding of engineering, retail experience and understanding of Store Design in the retail environment. 
  • BA or AA in Architecture, Interior Design or related degree preferred. 
  • Experience with space planning as it relates to retail.
  • Store Planning and Design experience in a multi-store retail environment or a Visual Merchandising lead position.
  • Understand local and market “vibe” and blend with the REI brand design standards. 
  • Recommend regionally relevant art, artifacts and furniture that enhance the overall
  • store design and customer experience in assigned stores. 
  • Ability to recommend and apply design standards in a variety of store formats and
  • markets. 
  • Project management skills including measurement, reporting and financial analysis.
  • Ability to travel nationally approximately 30% of the time with the possibility for international travel 
  • Ability to create and maintain process systems, documentations and support tools.
  • Advanced Computer Skills: Excel, Project Tracking programs (such as Workfront,
  • Smartsheet or Microsoft Project) and Outlook.

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
