The Strategy team plays a critical role in developing REI’s short and long-term enterprise strategies and works cross-functionally with all divisions and our senior leadership team on a wide-range of high priority initiatives. The Strategy Manager contributes to REI’s success by supporting the development of REI’s enterprise strategic plan, challenging our thinking, and ensuring our strategic initiatives are grounded in solid analytics and frameworks. This role will be broad in scope and impact across the organization. 


The Strategy Manager will also be responsible for leading complex analyses, monitoring key competitive threats and opportunities, evaluating our performance versus the industry and broader retail trends, and providing analytical support for the business cases backing our enterprise strategic initiatives. 


  • Works cross-divisionally with all divisions to share key analyses and insights that drive strategy and support strategic initiative development.
  • Supporting key business initiatives and ensuring our strategic initiatives are grounded in solid analytical frameworks and insights.
  • Supports enterprise strategy development and planning and elevates strategic thinking across the organization in conjunction with senior leadership to define and achieve REI’s 3-5 year vision.
  • Identifies and evaluates business development opportunities including M&A, partnerships, and new initiatives. 
  • Leading complex analyses of current and future strategic initiatives/ driving analytical support for the business cases backing our enterprise strategic initiatives.
  • Supports and creates reports and presentations for senior leaders and the Board of Directors regarding key strategic initiatives as well as competitive, retail, and industry trends.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide senior leadership and key cross-divisional partners with insights about the market, industry, vendors, key competitors, and customers to be used as key inputs in strategy development across the enterprise.
  • Manages existing industry and competitive intelligence data providers and evaluates new tools and data sources.
  • Monitoring key competitive threats and opportunities.
  • Advise and engage senior leaders on quarterly and adhoc basis regarding key competitive and industry developments.

  • 5+ years demonstrated analytical skills across modeling and financial/competitive/industry analysis and ability to generate actionable insights and tell a story with data.
  • Resourceful in gathering and synthesizing new information from a variety of sources
  • 7+ years work experience within the consumer, tech, finance, or management consulting fields
  • BS or BA in a related field (business, economics, etc.)
  • MBA
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Background or interest in consumer/retail/outdoor/active lifestyle sector.

ARTICLE 23-A, Section 753
LICENSURE AND EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED OF ONE OR MORE CRIMINAL OFFENSES

§753. Factors to be considered concerning a previous criminal conviction; presumption.

1. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall consider the following factors:

(a) The public policy of this state, as expressed in this act, to encourage the licensure and employment of persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses.

(b) The specific duties and responsibilities necessarily related to the license or employment sought or held by the person.

(c) The bearing, if any, the criminal offense or offenses for which the person was previously convicted will have on his fitness or ability to perform one or more such duties or responsibilities.

(d) The time which has elapsed since the occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(e) The age of the person at the time of occurrence of the criminal offense or offenses.

(f) The seriousness of the offense or offenses.

(g) Any information produced by the person, or produced on his behalf, in regard to his rehabilitation and good conduct.

(h) The legitimate interest of the public agency or private employer in protecting property, and the safety and welfare of specific individuals or the general public.

2. In making a determination pursuant to section seven hundred fifty-two of this chapter, the public agency or private employer shall also give consideration to a certificate of relief from disabilities or a certificate of good conduct issued to the applicant, which certificate shall create a presumption of rehabilitation in regard to the offense or offenses specified therein.
